Joel is the brainchild behind IMM. His dream was to find a way for students to learn in an environment that would challenge each student’s perspective on medical care, to give working professionals a different experience in connection with patient care, as well as, to connect students to medical professionals, and to find a way to give back to his motherland. We’d say he has successfully accomplished this dream.

Asha’s journey with IMM began in 2019 when she decided to attend the trip as an administrator while waiting for her Bar results. The IMM trip was so transformative, it lead her to attend again in 2023 and 2024. Still, she felt she had more to give to this mission. She put her legal skills to work to turn a community group into this formal organization and presently runs all operations for India Medical Mission.

In 2019, Wendy was getting ready to graduate nursing school and enter the working world when she learned about India Medical Mission in class one day. In that moment, she made a few spontaneous decisions that changed her life forever. She had no passport - she decided to expedite one. As a newly graduated student, she had limited resources - she decided to post her desire to attend IMM on Facebook and to her surprise, a kind acquaintance donated a large sum to her. She had never been to India - but she was ready to explore. Wendy is a dedicated team member of IMM who presently heads our student outreach to bridge the gap between academia and the beautiful country of India.
